Van Stapele Koekmakerij

Van Stapele Koekmakerij is probably going to be the best cookie you will ever have in your entire life!
This cozy cookie shop only makes a 3000 cookies per day and once they run out, they close for the day, so its best you get there early! The key to to their delicious cookies is that they only make and sell one flavor, which is dark chocolate with a white chocolate filling. Since they make it right in the building, they give it to you basically right out of the oven while it’s still warm.

The wait time seems to vary from 10-30 minutes depending on the time and day you go. I went in January at around 10am and waited around 15 minutes, but to be honest, it’s not that bad. However, because the cookie shop is small, the line was outside, so during colder seasons, be sure to dress warmly.

The long line

The line is split into two so it doesn’t block the people walking by since the street is very narrow. Once we were in the front of the line opposite the store, they placed us to right in front of the store, towards the window where you can peep into the inside. There were also cute toys displayed that were really fun to watch to make time go a little faster.

Once I got in, I was instantly greeted by the smell of freshly baked cookies.

The cookies are made to perfection and are crunchy and soft at the same time. The white chocolate in the middle also melts if you eat it warm. The price for one cookie is €2.00, and you can buy a box of 6 cookies for €10.00. I actually bought 6 cookies that come with a tin container since I thought it was super cute and made for a great souvenir!

Since I got these cookies on morning of my flight, I brought them back to New York and savored the taste of Amsterdam of the next few days. In room temperature, it can be kept for 4 days and in the freezer, 2 months!

It’s been a few years and I’m still thinking about these cookies. If you are ever in Amsterdam, you will regret not going to Van Stapele Koekmakerij! Their website is linked here for more information.
