Maid Cafe Tokyo: My Experience at Maidreamin

It was towards the end of my year studying abroad in Tokyo and my friend and I decided we wanted to do something that can be experienced only in Japan. Somehow, we ended up going to a maid cafe in Akihabara. Before the popularity of dog cafes, cat cafes and even owl or pig cafes, Maid Cafe Tokyo was already become one of the iconic representations of the country’s quirky modern customs. This was truly deep in Japanese pop culture. If you want to go as well, book a Maid Cafe Experience at Maidreamin through Klook for easy reservation!

As we entered, we were instantly greeted by people in maid outfits welcoming us in. The moment the elevator opened, it really felt like we were transcended into another world. There was a lot of food and drink options and the menu can be looked at on their official website. I got their Bears Omelette Rice and it was cute and tasty! Before we left, we took a picture with our maid to commemorate us going. They also gave us props (cat ears) before the photo to match the theme.

There is no pictures are allowed around the cafe, and the only photos that are allowed are of your food. It was a new, fun, and interesting experience. Throughout the experience, the maids tried to engage everyone and ensured we enjoyed our time. Overall, I enjoyed my Maid Cafe Experience at Maidreamin, and I hope you keep an open mind and have fun!

It really isn’t a full Japanese pop culture experience without trying this cafe. Make sure to visit one of their 16 locations in Japan. Did you know that after 8:00 pm they turn from their cute maid cafe theme to a maid party? They have all-you-can-drink options and have a fun time with the maids at night.
