Koenji is not as known as other neighborhoods in Tokyo like Shibuya, and Harajuku but it has its own unique charm that i have grown to love. I didn’t really know much about Koenji until I had a part-time job in the area so before and after work, I would explore the area. This area is great fo those who love thrift shops and cozy cafes. One of the places I would visit frequently when I had time was Floresta Kōenji. They have another location in Sangenjaya as well. The Koenji location has a cute storefront with a few tables outside, as well as a small indoor eating area. The indoor eating isn’t anything too fancy, but enough room to comfortably sit and eat, and also an outlet to charge your items.
The store really pushes as a healthy donut shop by using natural ingredients and using soy milk instead of milk in their donuts. The store name Floresta is Portuguese for “forest”. They are especially known for decorating their donuts so cute, that it somewhat makes me feel bad every time I eat them. The donuts are slightly crispy outside, and soft and fluffy inside. It is a little drier than the donuts back home in America, but I didn’t mind it that much.
They have the most variety of donuts in the morning when they first open at 10 am, and start to run out of donuts towards the end of the day, so I recommend going early to make sure you have many choices to pick from.
They often do collaborations with different brands. During the times I went, they had a Rilakkuma collaboration in December 2021, and in January 2022 a cute tiger-themed donut was out to celebrate the year of the tiger. Check out their official website to see updated collaborations. Their menu also has drinks like coffee, tea, and juice.
I definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of healthy desserts and cute things to come and eat their donuts!
