Shibuya is one of the first places that visitors go to during their trip to Japan, and since theres so many amazing restaurants and cafes in Shibuya, it can get very overwhelming. One of the most important things while traveling for me is food, so here is my list of the best foods in Shibuya!
Flipper’s Shibuya is really famous among locals and tourists for having the jiggliest and fluffiest pancakes. The wait can get incredibly long, but it is worth it.
Uobei Shibuya Dogenzaka Store
While you are in Japan, you have to visit a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. The menu at Uobei Shibuya Dogenzaka Store has dozens if different sushi and unique sushi like meat and vegetables. They have side menus, ramen, and dessert as well! This is the best place to have a fun and affordable meal since a one plate can cost about 100 yen.
Gariguette is also very famous on Japanese social media, so. the lines can get long. They are most known for their new type of millefeuille, with crispy pasty and custard cream for a very sweet and airy dessert!
This is one of the best places to try high quality matcha (green tea) ice cream in Tokyo! They have delicious high-quality matcha from grades 1-7, with 7 being the most concentrated and strong matcha. It is a perfect fusion of Italian gelato art and Japanese traditional green tea. If you don’t like matcha, they have other ice cream flavors as well.
As a native New Yorker, I approve this New York style pizza restaurant in Shibuya! It really feels like getting transported to America, and a great place to stop by when you are craving something closer to home.
Gyukatsu is something that needs to be eaten while in Japan. One of the main reasons why it is so good, is because they give you a stone plate to grill the meat to the tenderness of your liking. This place only has 9 seats so coming in a group is not advised, and the line may be long. This might be the one of the Best Foods in Shibuya.
Oreryu Shio-ramen Shibuya-main store
Rather than going to a chain ramen restaurant that is everywhere in Tokyko, go to Oreyu Shio-Ramen, a cozy ramen restaurant with great authentic delicious ramen, a little away from crowded Shibuya. They have other food like tsukemen, gyoza, and fried rice as well.
Hokkaido Soup Curry Suage SHIBUYA
Try Hokkaido soup curry, something that you probably will not be able to find anywhere outside of Japan. Hokkaido soup curry is a specialty food from Hokkaido, Japan’s most northern area. Their soup curry is a twist on traditional Japanese curry with a thin, soup-like base with more spices and herbs and many more vegetables.
MEGA Don Quijote Shibuya Main Store
Don Quijote should be on every traveler’s bucket list, and the MEGA Don Quijote Shibuya Main Store is one of the biggest of its stores! You may know it as the best place to get souvenirs and knick-knacks, but go to the basement to get affordable bento boxes from as low as 150 yen! Great from when you are on a budget!
